We have been approached by a resident wanting the parking spaces on Market Place / North End widened. This is not a Town Council decision, but we can ask North Yorkshire Council to do this if it is perceived to be in the interests of the town. The argument in favour is that there would be more space to enter/exit vehicles and (hopefully) less dings and dents. The argument against is that we would lose around a dozen parking spaces. Beckside path We are aware that the Beckside path is very difficult to get along at the moment, especially downstream of the waterworks, with nettles and himalayan balsam overgrowing the footpath. Bedale Library is refurbishing to provide a more up-to-date and flexible space, giving a better service to local residents. The new purpose-designed space will also increase opportunities for the library to host a range of events and activities at a safe, easily accessible venue.
