Maintaining Bedale

For those not familiar with local Parish boundaries please note that the Parish of Bedale ends at Bedale Beck. Aiskew and Leeming Bar Parish Council are responsible for maintaining the public open spaces that are in Aiskew and Leeming Bar.

Bedale Town Council works with the residents of Bedale and the Council's Contractors to ensure that Bedale Town is kept looking its best. The Town Council is responsible for maintaining some areas of the town, other areas are maintained by Hambleton District Council, others still by North Yorkshire County Council and the rest is maintained by private landowners.

Bedale  Litter Busters

Bedale is a beautifully kept town however from time to time some people do drop litter. Bedale Litter Busters are a group of friendly local people who meet up regularly through the year to socialise and to pick up litter from around the town. The Town Council has recently sponsored the group by providing them with new litter picking equipment. The group are always keen to welcome new members so if you would like more information then please contact them directly through their Facebook page: Bedale Litter Busters.

Litter Busters and Town Councillors pose with the new litter picking equipment. Dogs are welcome!

Grass Cutting:

The maintenance of the grassed areas of Bedale Park, Wycar Green, The Beckside and Harbour Area, Southfields Public Open Spaces (Off Iddison Drive), Burrill Road Public Open Space and the grassed roadside verges in Bedale are the responsibility of  Bedale Town Council. (This does not mean that the land is owned by the Council!) The grass is scheduled to be cut 12 times each year through the growing season, April to October.

Grounds Maintenance:

Bedale Town Council is responsible for the maintenance of a number of areas of shrubs and hedges around the town, these are mostly associated with the areas of public open space. If you have any concerns about any overgrowing shrubs or bushes please contact the Clerk.

Trees:

There are a number of magnificent mature trees to be found in Bedale Park. There are also trees growing on Wycar Green, on the Beckside and on the public open spaces in the town. The Council has these trees inspected on a two-yearly basis by expert arboriculturalists and monitors their health and safety on a more regular basis. Please contact the Clerk if you have any concerns
