Bedale Library is refurbishing to provide a more up-to-date and flexible space, giving a better service to local residents. The new purpose-designed space will also increase opportunities for the library to host a range of events and activities at a safe, easily accessible venue. The library has benefited from grants to allow them to undertake this work, including £20,000 from the National Lottery Community Fund.
In order to complete the required work, the library will be closed to the public from 4pm on Friday 12th June and is scheduled to reopen at 10am on Friday 3rd July. On Saturday 4th July, the library will welcome children to join up for the annual Summer Reading Challenge.
Loans will be extended to cover the closure period, and arrangements have been made to cover Home Library Service deliveries. The nearest alternative libraries are in Northallerton, Leyburn, Colburn, Catterick, and Richmond. Customers can browse, reserve and renew items, and access their library account and a range of eBooks online at www.northyorks.gov.uk/libraries.
