Many thanks to Bedale Litter Busters and everyone who turned up to the Town Tidy Day on Sunday 16th May. The town looks lovely, feedback has been excellent, and everybody should be very proud. Thank you to the 90 (!!) volunteers for their sheer determination at getting those shrubs out of those pots, providing more compost and essentials, and wielding trowels and brushes with equal aplomb!

Cllr Andrew Hallett, Mayor of Bedale, along with members of the Bedale branch of the Royal British Legion and Rev. Canon Simon Moor, attended a short service at the War Memorial by St. Gregory’s Church on 15th May to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the formation of the Royal British Legion.

Bedale's famous car boot sales are now up and running on Saturdays - weather permitting of course! The gate opens for sellers at 6.30am; £8 per car, £12 for a van or a car with trailer.

Bedale has been voted Best Dressed Host Town in the 2019 Tour de Yorkshire. Congratulations to everyone in the town for welcoming the Tour so wholeheartedly and with such colour. To win this award when we are by far the smallest host town is amazing! Special thanks to Brand Bedale for the lovely lamppost sails, and all three schools for their fantastic land art.

Since the granting of a Market Charter by King Henry III in 1251, there has been a market in Bedale’s cobbled market place every Tuesday. The current market has stalls including fresh and hand-made foods, clothes, plants, crafts and other delights, and Bedale Town Council is committed to see the town’s historic market prosper.
