At the last Ordinary meeting held on 13th August 2018 Councillor David Ingram was co-opted onto Bedale Town Council. Councillor Ingram has lived in Bedale for the last sixteen years with his wife and two sons and is a Manager for a local supermarket. We wish him well in his new role.

Over the Easter break the public toilets in Bedale's Bridge Street car park were closed for some much needed repairs and refurbishment. The toilets were originally built in 1990 by Hambleton District Council and were last refurbished by Hambleton DC in 2003. Bedale Town now has a new Mayor. At the Annual Meeting of the Town Council, Councillor Andrew Hallett was elected Mayor taking on the role from Councillor Christine Mollard. Councillor Mollard was thanked for all the amazing work that she had done representing the town and raising its profile over the last four years. On May 8th the Bedale Community Award 2018 was awarded to Claire Gerard for her commitment to serving the town by Councillor Christine Mollard, Mayor of Bedale. Claire was presented with a framed certificate, a parchment citation and a bottle of wine. Since 1251 there has been a market in Bedale’s cobbled market place every Tuesday. On the 17th of April 2018, a delegation of 6 from Bedale Twinning Association went to Azay-sur-Cher, in the Loire region of France near to Tours. They were met with the utmost hospitality and friendship whilst being hosted by members of Azay-sur Cher Twinning Association. Having heard that a group of Bedale residents were getting together to go out and tidy up the town Bedale Town Councillors were keen to get involved and play their part. Bedale Scout and Guide Group have announced the date for their annual Bedale Festival for 2018. Sunday 17th June 2018 has been chosen for the event which, following a year's rest, is set to return to the Town with a fresh format. The Scout and Guide leaders are planning to widen the Community involvement in the event so as to pull together all that is best in the town. We look forward to hearing what they plan to do over the next months.
