Unsurprisingly, many people are getting in touch about the resumption of our popular car boot sales. The Council has been looking at this situation at every monthly meeting, as to whether we would be able to start on the first Saturday of the following month. (It takes a little time to get staff, contractors, beneficiary organisations, licensing authorities and the Bedale public all on side.)

Bedale has been voted Best Dressed Host Town in the 2019 Tour de Yorkshire. Congratulations to everyone in the town for welcoming the Tour so wholeheartedly and with such colour. Since the granting of a Market Charter by King Henry III in 1251, there has been a market in Bedale’s cobbled market place every Tuesday. The current market has stalls including fresh and hand-made foods, clothes, plants, crafts and other delights, and Bedale Town Council is committed to see the town’s historic market prosper.
