The Council office in Bedale Hall will be closed for business from Friday 21st December 2018 until Thursday 27th December 2018 and then again on Tuesday 1st January 2019  until Thursday 3rd January 2019 due to the Christmas/ New Year holidays. Applications for Bedale Car Boot Sale 2019 closes on 30th November 2018. Bedale's annual Christmas Event will take place on Saturday 1st December 2018 starting at 10am with a Christmas Market in the town and a Christmas Festival in Bedale Hall. The Christmas Lights switch on will take place in the Market place at 5:30 pm. Please come along and get into the festive spirit, support your local businesses and have a fun day.

Hambleton District Council, who fund Bedale Town Council via the annual precept, is consulting on its budget and the services it provides for next year (2019-20). To help shape the budget proposals, the council is inviting you to have your say through this consultation until 26 October 2018. The consultation is available here.

Bedale has been chosen as one of the eight host venues for the 2019 cycling Tour de Yorkshire, which runs from 2-5 May. This means that one stage of the race will either start or finish in Bedale, which will be one of the biggest days in the town's history. On May 8th the Bedale Community Award 2018 was awarded to Claire Gerard for her commitment to serving the town by Councillor Christine Mollard, Mayor of Bedale. Claire was presented with a framed certificate, a parchment citation and a bottle of wine. On the 17th of April 2018, a delegation of 6 from Bedale Twinning Association went to Azay-sur-Cher, in the Loire region of France near to Tours. They were met with the utmost hospitality and friendship whilst being hosted by members of Azay-sur Cher Twinning Association.
